AWS Elemental MediaConvert adds a native integration with AWS Elemental Inference Smart Subtitles
AWS Elemental MediaConvert now includes Smart Subtitles, an AI-powered subtitling tool integrated directly into video transcoding workflows, supporting six languages and customizable transcription.
AWS Elemental MediaConvert has introduced Smart Subtitles, an AI-driven subtitling feature built on AWS Elemental Inference and advanced speech recognition models. The integration allows customers to generate subtitles automatically during video-on-demand transcoding and packaging, removing the need for separate external captioning processes. This streamlines workflows by consolidating subtitle creation and transcoding into a single step, improving efficiency for media processing pipelines.
Smart Subtitles supports automated transcription into six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. The feature enables output packaging in text-based side-car formats or burned-in subtitles for streaming and distribution. Users can enhance transcription accuracy by defining custom dictionaries in Elemental Inference to handle proper nouns, brand names, and technical terms, ensuring precise captions tailored to specific content.
The new capability complements existing MediaConvert features such as Smart Cropping, intelligent framing, and accessible subtitle delivery in formats like HLS and DASH. These additions strengthen end-to-end media workflows by providing more automation and accessibility options for content distribution. The integration ensures subtitles are production-ready and aligned with industry standards for streaming platforms.
Smart Subtitles is available in all AWS regions where Elemental Inference is accessible, including US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), and Asia Pacific (Sydney). Customers can explore the feature through AWS documentation and product pages for MediaConvert and Elemental Inference.
