Introducing Apple Watch Series 12, with the all-new Health Sensing System
Apple unveiled Apple Watch Series 12 featuring a new Health Sensing System with advanced heart monitoring, a readiness score, and Audio Intelligence features, alongside a redesigned Health app and faster charging.
Apple Watch Series 12 introduces the Health Sensing System and S11 chip, delivering the most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable. The system uses new optical and electrical sensors to measure heart rate every five seconds, all day long, while HRV is tracked up to 24 times more frequently. A scientifically rigorous study on over 1,000 participants confirmed Apple Watch’s superior accuracy compared to leading wearables.
A new readiness score analyzes activity, training load, vitals, and sleep to provide a 0–10 daily recommendation—Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It—helping users plan their day. The scoring algorithm was developed using data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study in collaboration with exercise scientists and physicians. Overnight and daytime vitals views offer deeper insights into recovery and stress, with Recovery HRV and overall HRV tracked separately.
The S11 chip powers Audio Intelligence features, enabling users to remember key conversation moments and stay alert to important sounds with privacy at the core. watchOS 27 integrates Apple Intelligence for Siri, offering personal context and broad world knowledge on the wrist. The redesigned Health app on iPhone, arriving later this year, includes a Longevity tab with a Health Age feature to compare metrics against age.
Apple Watch Series 12 is available in multiple finishes, including dark bronze, black, light gold, and space gray aluminum, radiant gold and natural titanium, and ceramic in pearl white and night blue. Aluminum models feature Ceramic Shield 2, which is 60 percent tougher than previous Ion-X glass. Pre-orders begin today, with availability starting September 18, and the device offers up to 24 hours of battery life with faster charging.
