Apple Upgrade launches in the United States

Apple Upgrade, a new leasing program provided by Klarna, is now available in the United States for iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad through the Apple Store online, in the app, and at retail locations. The program offers 12- and 24-month leases for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 24- and 36-month leases for Mac and iPad, with monthly payments beginning at $17.99 for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad. Customers can reduce payments by trading in eligible devices via Apple Trade In and earn 3% Daily Cash back on lease payments made with Apple Card.

The enrollment process is designed to be straightforward, allowing customers to review leasing details before applying either online or in-store. Approval is typically quick, subject only to a soft credit inquiry that does not affect credit scores. Once approved, customers can complete their purchase immediately in-store or choose delivery or pickup online. Apple’s Personal Setup service and free Today at Apple sessions are available to assist with device setup and education.

At the end of the lease term, customers may upgrade to the latest device, purchase the leased product with a one-time payment, or return it. The Klarna app provides lease management tools, including billing schedules and remaining payments. Customers can also add AppleCare to protect their devices, simplifying the return and upgrade process. Apple will discontinue the iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments in the U.S., offering eligible customers alternatives such as Apple Card Monthly Installments or carrier financing.

The program covers a range of current Apple products, including iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, as well as Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. Mac options include MacBook Air with M5, MacBook Pro with M5 family chips, iMac with M4, and Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra. iPad leases apply to iPad Air, iPad Pro with M5, and iPad mini.
