BMW brings modern mobility to the Sony Pictures film “Spider Man™: Brand New Day”.
BMW partners with Sony Pictures to feature the new BMW iX3 and BMW 5 Series Sedan in the Spider-Man™: Brand New Day film, releasing 31 July 2026.
The useful question is what changes for users, developers or buyers, and whether the announcement stays industry context or becomes something people can actually use.
BMW will integrate its new iX3, the first model of the Neue Klasse, and the BMW 5 Series Sedan into the plot of Spider-Man™: Brand New Day, a film set for release on 31 July 2026. The vehicles will appear prominently in the movie, aligning with the franchise’s global audience. Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President of BMW Brand and Product Management, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating it represents a bold new beginning for both the brand and the film. The collaboration underscores BMW’s focus on innovation and cultural relevance.
The film marks a new chapter for Spider-Man™, following Peter Parker’s adult life after the events of Spider-Man™: No Way Home. A mutation threatens his existence as he faces a mysterious wave of crimes in New York. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie features Tom Holland, Zendaya, and other cast members. The partnership with BMW extends beyond the film, including a special one-off BMW iX3 Flow designed in collaboration with Sony/Marvel, featuring dynamic graphics and E Ink Prism™ elements inspired by Spider-Man™.
BMW will offer a Spider-Man™ Animation feature for eligible vehicles from 27 July to 10 August in participating markets. The animation, triggered by starting the car, includes a festive display in the Control Display, ambient lighting, and music. This feature will be available in over 70 countries for vehicles with BMW Operating System 7, 8, 8.5, 9, or BMW Operating System X, and a production date after July 2020. The campaign aims to enhance customer engagement by integrating the Spider-Man™ universe into the driving experience.
A teaser film titled The Big Screen, directed by Hot Icarus and produced by Parasol Island, bridges the worlds of BMW and Spider-Man™. The short film follows a father and son whose BMW iX3 becomes part of a Spider-Man™ sighting. The campaign, developed with Jung von Matt Hamburg and BMW’s global entertainment agency UEG, combines entertainment with innovation, positioning the new BMW models within the film’s narrative rather than as standalone advertisements.
