BMW Concept 7 Protection: Discreet protection in its most sophisticated form.

BMW’s Concept 7 Protection introduces a new category of armored vehicles designed for private, corporate, and organizational customers who prioritize discretion alongside security. Unlike higher-protection models such as the BMW 7 Series Protection (VR9), this concept focuses on lower-risk scenarios while maintaining the sedan’s signature luxury and driving dynamics. The vehicle integrates protection features invisibly, preserving the 7 Series’ exterior and interior aesthetics, including premium materials and advanced comfort systems.

The concept is based on the BMW M760e xDrive plug-in hybrid, combining a 3.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 450 kW/612 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Inside, the cabin features Smoke White BMW Individual Merino Leather, Alcantara trims, and a BMW Individual rear console with a foldable table and wireless charging tray. Sun protection glazing and electronically operated sunblinds enhance privacy, while the digital interior mirror improves rear visibility.

Protection features include thicker bulletproof glass, ballistic steel and fiber-reinforced composites in the doors, and additional armor in the rear triangular windows and roof. The concept complies with the BayB standard, designed to counter common handgun ammunition like 9×19 mm and .44 Magnum, addressing everyday and situational risks such as violent attacks or travel hazards.

BMW highlights the vehicle’s integrated approach, calibrating chassis, brakes, and driver assistance systems for a series-like driving experience. The concept expands the company’s protection portfolio, with production models of the rear console planned for the second half of 2027.
