EE has introduced Fast Lane, a new feature that allocates users to a dedicated 5G+ lane during peak network demand, ensuring consistent speeds for streaming, calls, and data even in crowded areas. The service is designed for high-footfall times such as rush hour or major events, marking the first commercial use of network slicing for both consumers and small businesses in the UK. Fast Lane builds on EE’s expanding 5G+ network, currently accessible to 54 million people (78% of the UK) and set to reach 99% by March 2030 as part of a £40 billion investment.

The feature is available to consumers via the new Full Works Plus pay-monthly plan, priced at £5 more than the standard Full Works plan, which includes unlimited maximum-speed data, worldwide roaming, and other premium benefits. Small business customers can access Fast Lane through an EE Full Works business plan on a compatible 5G+ device. Eligible users will see a 5G+ icon on their smartphones to indicate when they are connected to the enhanced network.

EE’s CEO of Consumer Division, Claire Gillies, stated that Fast Lane leverages the company’s 5G+ network to provide dedicated connectivity during peak times, supporting activities like live streaming or mobile payments. The feature follows two years of real-world trials at events such as Wembley Stadium and the Royal Welsh Show 2026, demonstrating its reliability in high-demand scenarios.

To use Fast Lane, customers must have a 5G+ compatible plan, device, SIM, and be within a 5G+ enabled area. The service is part of EE’s broader 5G+ expansion, which aims to cover 99% of the UK population by March 2030.
