The launch is not the end: How Beholder: Conductor equalled its launch sales 15 months after release
Beholder: Conductor achieved launch-level sales 15 months after release through a coordinated Steam promotion, festival alignment, and creator campaign, selling 81,088 units in two weeks.
Beholder: Conductor, a spinoff from the Beholder series, sold 81,088 copies in 14 days—matching its launch sales—despite no changes to the game or its Steam page. The surge followed a 70% discount on Steam, reducing the US price from $13.99 to $4.19, a deeper discount than previously attempted. The promotion coincided with Steam Train Fest, a thematically relevant event that placed the game on the festival’s front page from July 20 to 27, 2024.
The campaign also included a creator marketplace initiative via Jestr, generating 9.2 million video views between July 20 and 26. The combined approach—a deep discount, festival alignment, and creator-driven visibility—produced unprecedented results. In the eight days prior to the campaign, the game sold 202 copies; during the first eight days of the promotion, it sold 67,016 copies, with total sales reaching 81,088 by the end of the two-week period.
Steam reported 41.73 million impressions and 743,055 store page visits over 14 days, peaking at 190,000 visits in a single day. Gross revenue during the campaign reached $274,498, with net revenue of $165,000 after refunds and Steam’s commission. Refunds accounted for 3.4% of units sold, a typical rate. The lifetime gross revenue for Conductor at the time stood at $1,496,735.
Wishlist additions surged during the campaign, with 83,348 new additions in the first eight days and a net increase of 61,182. Cohort data showed that 64.5% of wishlist purchases in July came from players who added the game to their wishlists in 2024–25, rising to 72.9% in August. The campaign also boosted sales of other Beholder games and bundles, with 58,216 units sold across three titles and 37,684 bundle units moved during the promotion.
