Drive with Halo on Waze
Waze and Halo launch a refreshed navigation experience featuring Master Chief’s voice and Cortana’s AI guidance for drivers, tied to the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved.
The useful question is what changes for users, developers or buyers, and whether the announcement stays industry context or becomes something people can actually use.
Waze and Halo have expanded their 2021 partnership with a new navigation experience tied to the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved. The update reintroduces Master Chief’s iconic voice for turn-by-turn directions, delivering tactical updates such as, “This is Spartan 117. Vehicle Delivery Confirmed. Let’s finish this mission.” The refreshed lines maintain the character’s legendary tone while integrating into real-time driving directions. Drivers can access the feature globally in English and Spanish through the latest Waze app update.
Cortana, Halo’s AI companion, makes her debut in Waze as a navigation assistant, offering guidance with lines like, “Red light camera reported ahead. Security protocols appear to be operational.” Her presence adds a humanizing element to the driving experience, blending humor and practical advice. The feature allows users to toggle between Cortana’s “Vital” mood and Master Chief’s “Stoic” tone for navigation prompts. Both characters are designed to enhance the in-car experience with personality-driven updates.
The collaboration introduces two iconic Halo vehicles as customizable options within Waze: the armored “Warthog” and the stealth-focused “Ghost.” Drivers can select these vehicles to replace their standard Waze avatar, further immersing them in the Halo universe. The feature is accessible by opening the Waze menu and selecting the Halo banner or activating it directly through the app. No additional purchases or subscriptions are required beyond the latest app update.
The Halo-themed navigation experience is available globally and does not require a Halo: Campaign Evolved purchase to use. Users simply need to update Waze to the latest version and enable the feature via the menu. The integration marks the latest effort by Waze to offer themed, branded navigation experiences, following previous collaborations with other entertainment franchises.
