Andy Selby, senior gaming manager at the Premier League, emphasized that the Companion enhances the existing AI interface by making complex FPL data more accessible. New managers can ask basic questions about team selection or chip usage, while experienced players can dig deeper into metrics like shots in the box or fixture difficulty. The tool provides multiple options with supporting data and links to editorial content, ensuring users make their own choices based on contextually relevant information.

For new FPL players, the Companion aims to reduce the perceived complexity of fantasy football by offering a conversational interface where no question is considered trivial. Early interactions may involve understanding team selection or league setup, but as users progress, they can ask more advanced questions about player performance or upcoming fixtures.
