NASA+ Debuts on discovery+, Coming Soon to HBO Max
NASA announced its programming will be available on discovery+ and HBO Max, expanding access to live feeds and special events such as the Artemis III mission in 2027, with enhanced Dolby Vision streaming options.
NASA will expand its streaming presence by making content available on discovery+ and HBO Max, following its recent addition to platforms like Apple TV and Roku. Discovery+ will host a continuous live feed of NASA+ programming, while HBO Max will carry special events, including the Artemis III mission scheduled for 2027. Viewers on these platforms can access NASA+ content in Dolby Vision on supported devices, offering improved visual quality with sharper contrast and richer detail.
Future programming on these platforms may include launches of science missions, test flights for lunar landing systems, robotic lunar deliveries, and the first crewed Artemis mission to the Moon. The agreements aim to broaden public access to NASA’s missions and educational content across multiple streaming services. NASA emphasized its commitment to sharing space exploration with the widest audience possible.
Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, highlighted the agency’s goal to provide transparent and engaging coverage of its missions, citing the global impact of Artemis II as an example of its reach. She noted that the expanded streaming options align with NASA’s mandate under the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 to share exploration stories broadly.
Earlier this year, NASA outlined plans to increase the frequency of Artemis missions to the lunar surface and establish the first Moon Base as part of its long-term priorities. The streaming agreements with discovery+ and HBO Max reinforce NASA’s dedication to public engagement by making its content accessible on multiple devices and preferred channels.
