NBA 2K27 will launch on September 4, following a livestream reveal on August 18 that highlighted gameplay improvements and new features. The game introduces Step-Through Up-and-Unders on offense and reworked Hands-Up Shot Contests on defense, aiming for a more balanced experience. Powered by ProPlay, the game uses machine learning to enhance animations and real-time on-court adjustments, reflecting evolving player strategies. The City mode now supports co-ed play, allowing female MyPlayers to compete alongside male players in all modes, though female MyPlayers are restricted to City-only experiences.
A new Badge Tokens system replaces the traditional badge acquisition method, providing real-time feedback in the Builder to show how attributes and position affect badge eligibility and cost. The system includes 53 badges, 19 of which are new, designed to create a more balanced playing field. The Synergy system introduces Fuse and Reaction slots, offering +1 or +2 boosts to badges. In MyTeam, players can now exchange any earned or unlocked cards, including season rewards, for elite rewards, with cards remaining usable in The Exchange even after being used for Collection Rewards.
MyNBA Legacy is a new single-player mode where players choose a Modern Era athlete, upgrade attributes and badges, and shape their legacy. MyCareer now includes five historical eras, allowing players to build their career in past decades. A long-requested feature, co-op MyCareer mode lets players team up with a friend, controlling a custom teammate called Trace Miller, a Running Mate introduced in the G League who evolves alongside the player throughout their career.
Pre-orders for NBA 2K27 Deluxe and Ultra Editions grant up to 9 days of early access starting August 26 at 9:00am PT, with availability varying by region and time zone. The game will be available on September 4, offering new modes, systems, and historical depth for players to explore.
