Cyberpunk 2077's new dual wielding has already been modded to include shotguns and rifles, provided you're down to get "janky and wildly overpowered"
Modders have rapidly expanded Cyberpunk 2077’s new dual-wielding feature to include shotguns, rifles, and other weapons, creating unbalanced gameplay moments.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Edgerunners 2 update introduced dual-wielding mechanics limited to pistols, but modders have already expanded it to include shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and any other gun in the game. Several mods released within 24 hours now allow players to wield two weapons of any type simultaneously, bypassing the original restriction. The rapid adaptation underscores the community’s ability to push the game’s systems beyond intended limits.
Three prominent mods—Dual Wield Anything by E3roKK, Dual Wield Anything and Everything for 2.5 by Jollywankers, and Expanded Dual Wielding by JericoHellden—enable dual-wielding for all firearms. JericoHellden’s mod also offers separate controls for each weapon, unlike the game’s default alternating fire. A fourth mod, Independent Pistol Controls (Dual Wielding) by Dederara, focuses solely on pistols with independent firing options.
Modders acknowledge the experience can be unstable, with JericoHellden describing it as "janky and wildly overpowered" and E3roKK warning of clipping or awkward animations. The mods require Cyber Engine Tweaks, with Redscript additionally needed for Expanded Dual Wielding. Melee weapons like katanas are not yet fully supported, as the official integration prioritizes ranged combat.
The mods rely on Cyber Engine Tweaks, a framework mod essential for advanced modifications beyond visual tweaks. Redscript is required specifically for Expanded Dual Wielding. Players seeking to experiment with dual-wielding beyond pistols now have multiple options, though stability and balance remain concerns.
