Nearly 100 homes in Coalsnaughton, Clackmannanshire were evacuated in May due to ground movement linked to historic coal mining. The Mining Remediation Authority held meetings on 27 August to update residents on investigations and proposed actions. Structural engineering assessments, ground investigations, and option appraisals have been completed to assess damage and determine next steps for each affected area and property.

Assessments indicate varying levels of ground movement and property damage across affected streets. The most severe impacts are on Benbuck View and Dunmoss View, where homes have been assessed with damage and risk severity beyond rehabilitation. Subject to approvals, the proposed approach is to acquire and demolish properties on these streets, reflecting the extent of damage and the work required to make the ground safe.

In other areas, such as Langour, where movement has been limited, repairs are expected after ground stabilisation. Further stabilisation is planned near Nechtan Drive, alongside road repairs on The Glen.
