Sunder Katwala, Director of British Future and Equality and Human Rights Commission Commissioner, has been appointed to The National Lottery Community Fund Board for a four-year term beginning 5 August 2026. His role at British Future focuses on identity, immigration, and integration, while his prior experience includes leadership at the Fabian Society and contributions to media outlets such as *The Observer* and *Eastern Eye*.

Michelle Mitchell OBE, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK, has also been appointed to the Board for the same four-year term. Mitchell leads Cancer Research UK’s efforts in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment through research and innovation, with a career spanning major UK charities and organisational transformation programmes.

Both appointees will serve on the Board of The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes funds from National Lottery proceeds to support community projects across the UK. Members receive an annual remuneration of £7,848, in line with Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments.

The appointments were made following a regulated process overseen by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, with no significant political activity declared by either Katwala or Mitchell in the past five years as required by the Code.
