Two Trustees reappointed to the Theatres Trust board

The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport reappointed Annie Hampson and Katie Town as Trustees of the Theatres Trust Board for a six-month term starting 13 September 2026. Hampson, a former City of London Chief Planning Officer with 40 years of local government experience, holds an OBE for services to planning in London and serves on multiple advisory and architectural panels. Her roles include Chair of the Diocese of London Advisory Committee and Judge for the International Property Awards.

Katie Town, Chief Executive of Theatre Royal Wakefield, has led significant creative and organisational changes since 2015, including a major capital development and theatre extension. Previously, she worked as General Manager of the National Theatre’s Learning Department and held roles at the Royal Opera House and other arts organisations. Town is also Chair of Arts Catalyst and Co-Founder of the Local Theatre Touring Alliance, which advocates for local theatre and touring across the UK.

The Trustees of the Theatres Trust serve in a voluntary capacity without remuneration. These appointments were made in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments, with the process regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. The code requires disclosure of any significant political activity by appointees in the past five years, including holding office or making donations.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport oversees around 400 regulated public appointment roles across 42 public bodies, including Arts Council England and the National Gallery.
