Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – Kill Block is Must-Play Multiplayer at Launch
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches with Kill Block, a dynamic multiplayer map that reshapes itself every match, alongside a new 10v10 Gunfight mode and 12 diverse maps.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 introduces Kill Block, a multiplayer map housed within the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, where modular sections rearrange after each match to create hundreds of unique layouts. The map features three main areas—two End Slabs and one Central Slab—that combine in varied configurations, supporting both 3v3 and the new 10v10 Gunfight mode at launch. Each match begins with a fresh arrangement, forcing players to adapt their strategies on the fly as sightlines, cover, and chokepoints shift unpredictably. The Training Facility’s sections can introduce weather effects like rain or snow, further altering tactical conditions during combat.
Kill Block’s Gunfight mode pits teams in single-life battles with randomly assigned weapons, including explosive loadouts like RPGs, and requires teams to swap sides after each round. The match alternates between 3v3 and 10v10 formats, with Slab configurations changing every two rounds until one team secures six wins. If neither team is eliminated, an Overtime Flag appears, compelling both teams to converge and capture it for victory. The mode emphasizes teamwork and weapon proficiency over custom loadouts, creating high-stakes, fast-paced encounters.
The West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility will support additional core multiplayer modes in post-launch seasons, expanding tactical challenges beyond Kill Block’s launch. Beyond this adaptive map, Modern Warfare 4 offers 12 grounded multiplayer maps set in diverse global locations, including a Korean fishing village and a snow-covered New York hotel. Two returning favorites will join the roster shortly after launch, adding to the visual and tactical variety available at release.
Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer lineup includes larger-scale Ground War battles with armored vehicles, four smaller Gunfight maps, and a suite of modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination. Hardcore variants of these modes are also available, catering to players who prefer minimal HUD and heightened realism. The game launches today for Xbox Series X|S, providing a broad range of playstyles from objective-based modes to pure eliminations.
