BMW M2 with M Performance Track Kit sets record time on the Nordschleife

BMW has announced that the M2 fitted with the M Performance Track Kit achieved a Nordschleife lap time of 7 minutes 25.068 seconds, narrowly beating the M2 CS by half a second. The improvement stems from a bespoke track-focused chassis and an aerodynamic package designed to enhance stability and precision during high-speed cornering. The kit’s development involved BMW M engineers and wind tunnel testing, with final tuning overseen by Jörg Weidinger, a BMW M test engineer and record-setting driver. The M Performance Track Kit introduces several components aimed at track enthusiasts, including an adjustable front splitter, aero flicks, and a manually adjustable swan-neck rear wing with a dedicated Race Mode. A coilover suspension system with motorsport-grade dampers, now approved for road use, replaces the standard setup. These parts collectively sharpen the M2’s handling characteristics, improving responsiveness and consistency at the limit.
