Nissan Formula E Team launches The NISMO Pit for Tokyo E-Prix in collaboration with Japanese designer Kenichi Minami
Nissan Formula E Team will host The NISMO Pit, a one-night pop-up event in Tokyo on July 25, blending Formula E’s electric racing culture with Japan’s 1990s car scene heritage. The experience features heritage vehicles, live music, and designer Kenichi Minami’s artwork, alongside a special livery on the GEN3 Evo car.
Nissan Formula E Team announced The NISMO Pit, a one-night pop-up event scheduled for July 25 in Tokyo, coinciding with the Tokyo E-Prix. The event revives elements of Japan’s 1990s street car culture, offering an immersive experience that combines Nissan’s motorsport history with local automotive traditions. Attendees can view vehicles from Nissan’s Heritage Collection, enjoy diner-style food, and listen to live DJ sets, all set against a backdrop of nostalgic car culture aesthetics.
The event will feature a modified Nissan road car showcase in collaboration with Tokyo-based car network NowhereToGo, emphasizing creativity in automotive customization. The Nissan Formula E GEN3 Evo car will be displayed with a special one-off NISMO-inspired livery, incorporating grey, black, and red accents alongside the team’s cherry blossom motif. The design aims to reflect the speed and futuristic elements of Formula E while honoring Nissan’s performance heritage.
Designer Kenichi Minami, known for his nostalgic Japanese aesthetics, collaborated on the visual identity of The NISMO Pit. Minami described the project as an opportunity to translate the dynamic and electric atmosphere of Formula E and NISMO culture into a cohesive graphic identity. His work will transform the venue into a tribute to Nissan’s influence on automotive trends, blending speed with traditional Japanese design elements.
The NISMO Pit opens at 18:00 (UTC+9) on July 25 at City Circuit Tokyo Bay, with the Tokyo E-Prix race starting at 20:00. The experience will remain accessible until 23:00, allowing fans to attend before or after the race. Nissan’s involvement in Formula E underscores its commitment to electric mobility, with the series serving as a platform to develop and promote zero-emission vehicle technology.
