Nissan Formula E Team wraps up home Tokyo E-Prix weekend with double points finish

Nissan Formula E Team concluded its home Tokyo E-Prix weekend with points in both races of the Formula E double-header. Oliver Rowland finished seventh on Saturday after starting 15th, while teammate Norman Nato recovered to sixth on Sunday in the first night event in Tokyo. The results left Rowland 14 points behind the Drivers' Championship leader ahead of the Season 12 finale in London. Saturday's race presented challenges, with both drivers narrowly missing the Duels in qualifying and starting deep in the field due to hot and humid conditions.

Sunday's race followed a night of adjustments after Free Practice 3 was canceled due to rain. Both Rowland and Nato advanced to the Duels and started eighth and sixth, respectively. Rowland capitalized on early Attack Mode and managed energy well to secure fourth place after leading for several laps, despite a late red flag interruption. Nato struggled initially with grip but recovered strongly in the latter stages, using his final Attack Mode to charge through the field and finish sixth.

Formula E now moves to London for the Season 12 finale on 14–16 August, where the final double-header of the GEN3 era will decide both the Teams' and Drivers' FIA Formula E World Championship titles. Nissan's managing director and team principal, Tommaso Volpe, highlighted the team's resilience and strategic execution despite setbacks on Saturday, emphasizing their strong position heading into the finale.

Rowland and Nato both reflected positively on the weekend's outcomes. Rowland noted the team's maximum effort and his realistic expectations, while Nato acknowledged the frustration of a time penalty on Saturday but praised the team's adaptability and the support from Nissan fans. The team aims to maintain momentum in London after securing valuable points in Tokyo.
