Nissan’s Qashqai equipped with the latest e‑POWER system has been certified by Guinness World Records™ for completing the longest journey by a non-plug-in extended-range electric SUV without external charging or refuelling. The vehicle covered 1,980 km on a single tank of fuel during a drive in Colombia from 14 to 17 July 2026. The route spanned from Bogotá to the Caribbean coast, traversing varied road conditions, traffic patterns, and climates. Independent verification by Guinness World Records™ judges ensured the attempt met all criteria for certification.
The record-setting drive builds on Nissan’s prior long-distance e‑POWER challenges in the United Kingdom and Tasmania, reinforcing the technology’s consistent performance across diverse environments. e‑POWER combines an electric motor for wheel propulsion with a petrol engine that generates electricity on demand, eliminating the need for external charging. This design delivers an electric vehicle-like driving experience while maintaining the refuelling convenience of a conventional car.
