Stardew Valley's Monster-Mash Cousin Sets New Release Date
Perfect Garbage announced Grave Seasons, a horror-themed farm sim, will launch March 9, 2027, shifting from an August release and emphasizing narrative-driven gameplay with seasonal progression.
Perfect Garbage, the indie studio behind Grave Seasons, has set a new release date for its horror-themed farm sim after delaying it from August. The game is now scheduled for March 9, 2027, following an announcement during the Cozy After Dark showcase. The studio provided a glimpse into autumn’s mechanics and progression, highlighting the game’s story-driven structure. Each main narrative focuses on a supernatural serial killer in a small village, where players relocate after prison and choose whether to intervene in the killings.
Grave Seasons’ gameplay spans one in-game year per story segment, with progression carrying over between cycles. Narrative director Emmett Nahil showcased gothic farmhouse furniture, including plush red cushions, deep purple wallpaper, and heavy lampshades, designed to create an atmospheric setting. The exterior of the farmhouse featured wine-red paint, dark wooden detailing, and trailing plants, while customization extends to all player-built structures, such as a chicken coop adorned with vines and lights.
The game emphasizes distinct seasonal changes, with autumn rendered in rich earthy tones, mushrooms sprouting in the woods, and fields filled with seasonal crops. Nahil demonstrated a farmer uncovering a detached eyeball while tilling, adding a macabre touch to the harvest. Players can also gather deadly herbs during fall, attend the Nocturne Faire festival with mulled wine and cider stalls, and purchase unsettling straw dolls from a kiosk.
Perfect Garbage aims to push the boundaries of cozy gaming by blending darker themes with traditional farm sim elements. The studio co-founder Son M previously stated the game seeks to invert accepted norms and make the darker side of life less intimidating. Grave Seasons will launch on March 9, 2027, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
