Jetson unveils heat pump water heater with efficiency factor of up to 4.0
Jetson Home launched a heat pump water heater with up to 4.0 UEF, using 75% less electricity than standard electric models. Priced from $4,495 to $5,495, it includes rebate handling and a 10-year warranty.
Jetson Home, a US-based home electrification company, introduced the Jetson Water system, a residential heat pump water heater designed to reduce electricity consumption by approximately 75% compared to conventional electric storage water heaters. The product is available in three storage capacities: 50 gallons (189 liters), 65 gallons (246 liters), and 80 gallons (303 liters), with energy efficiency ratings ranging from 3.75 to 4.00 UEF depending on the model.
The Jetson Water system operates using R134a refrigerant and a vapor-compression heat pump mounted atop the storage tank. Ambient air is drawn across an evaporator coil, where heat is absorbed and raised by a compressor before transferring thermal energy to the stored water. The unit also provides limited cooling and dehumidification of the surrounding space, with condensate managed through a dedicated drain line.
The water heater includes two electric resistance heating elements for backup during high demand or low ambient temperatures below 2.8°C. It stores water at 60°C and uses a thermostatic mixing valve to deliver water at 48.9°C, increasing usable hot water volume while reducing scalding risk. Installation requires a 240V, 30A circuit, adequate airflow, and a condensate drain, with Jetson handling the replacement process including valve and expansion tank installation.
The Jetson Water system connects to the Jetson Hub controller for performance monitoring, fault detection, and mode management via the Jetson app. Reservations open on October 27, 2026, with installations beginning in 2027. The product includes 10-year coverage under the Jetson Care program and applies eligible rebates automatically during purchase.
