Panasonic unveils R454C air-to-water heat pumps for residential use
Panasonic launched the Aquarea High-Performance N Series air-to-water heat pumps using R454C refrigerant for residential heating and hot water, with models ranging from 3 kW to 9 kW.
Japan-based Panasonic has introduced the Aquarea High-Performance N Series, a new range of air-to-water heat pumps designed for residential heating and domestic hot water production. The systems use R454C refrigerant, which has a global warming potential of 148. The company states the new range offers a compact and adaptable solution for various residential projects, including detached houses and multi-family buildings.
The new series includes four models with heating capacities of 3 kW, 5 kW, 7 kW, and 9 kW. These units feature a refrigerant-split configuration, with indoor and outdoor units connected by refrigerant piping. Panasonic notes the systems support piping lengths of up to 50 meters and elevation differences of up to 30 meters, accommodating diverse building layouts.
The range includes a compact all-in-one indoor unit measuring 1,575 mm in height with a footprint of 599 mm × 602 mm. The manufacturer highlights the reduced dimensions to simplify installation in properties with limited indoor space. The heat pumps are designed to operate at outdoor temperatures as low as -25°C, with the 5 kW model having an outdoor sound power level of 58 dB(A).
The systems feature integrated connectivity for remote operation and maintenance through Panasonic’s cloud-based control platforms. The heat pumps achieve energy efficiency ratings of up to A+++ at a water flow temperature of 35°C and A++ at 55°C, with domestic hot water efficiency rated up to A+. The new heat pumps will be manufactured entirely in Europe, with market entry scheduled for April 2027.
