GeoPura, a UK-based company recently acquired by Ballard Power Systems, has deployed hydrogen power units at concerts, festivals and golf tournaments to provide electricity while reducing local air pollution. The company’s energy-as-a-service model integrates power generation, hydrogen supply, transport, on-site storage and operational support. Deployments aim to protect the health of artists, crews and attendees by cutting emissions near stages and production areas.

The Hydrogen Council reported that 100 additional companies joined an industry letter urging the European Commission to maintain Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) targets and mandates for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) beyond 2030. The letter, coordinated with Hydrogen Europe and the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, warns that removing RFNBO targets would disrupt six years of progress and undermine EU climate policy confidence.

The European Commission selected 77 net-zero technology projects across Europe for €3.4 billion in funding from EU Emissions Trading System revenues. Selected projects include medium and small-scale initiatives in the Netherlands, France, Latvia and Germany, as well as Belgian and Italian projects focused on scaling solid oxide electrolysis and fuel cell manufacturing.

The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies proposed a modular digital measurement, reporting and verification (dMRV) architecture to support hourly electricity matching and hydrogen certification schemes. The framework includes automated data collection via smart meters and IoT devices, robust validation, secure digital identities and interoperable certificate registries.
