Salesforce Turns Enterprise Applications into Enterprise Capabilities
Salesforce expands Headless 360 to turn its enterprise applications into reusable, AI-accessible capabilities via open standards, enabling secure cross-business actions without custom integrations.
Salesforce announced the expansion of Headless 360, a platform initiative that converts its enterprise applications into reusable business capabilities accessible to authorized AI agents through open standards. The update introduces Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Data 360 APIs, Slack integrations, and developer tools to let agents securely discover, understand, and execute tasks across Salesforce clouds without rebuilding integrations for each AI experience. The foundation preserves existing enterprise logic, governance, and permissions, ensuring consistent and secure operations across AI-driven workflows. This approach builds on Salesforce’s 27-year history of open enterprise APIs, now extending that philosophy into the agentic era.
The new Headless 360 MCP Server, built on the open Model Context Protocol, enables AI agents in platforms like Agentforce, Claude, and ChatGPT to dynamically discover and invoke Salesforce capabilities in real time. Unlike traditional MCP servers that expose APIs, this server reveals trusted business capabilities with metadata awareness, allowing agents to understand relationships, permissions, workflows, and validation rules. This ensures actions inherit the enterprise’s established security and governance context, eliminating the need for developers to recreate logic in prompts or custom code. The result is a secure foundation for deploying AI agents across the enterprise.
Salesforce introduced the Data 360 MCP Server to extend trusted customer context beyond the Salesforce interface, exposing nearly 200 Data 360 APIs through open standards. Authorized agents can now perform tasks such as building semantic models, transforming data, generating insights, mapping fields, creating audience segments, and activating campaigns using natural language. The server includes prebuilt Skills for common workflows, including code extensions and transformations, with general availability expected later this month. Headless 360’s capabilities are demonstrated in tools like Agentforce Coworker, which integrates Salesforce, Slack, Gmail, and other applications into a single conversational interface for employees.
Slackbot’s MCP Client is now generally available, connecting Slack with Salesforce MCP servers and over 20 partner applications, including Atlassian, Box, Canva, Docusign, Notion, and Zoom. Employees can update Salesforce records, retrieve contracts, and launch workflows directly from Slack conversations while maintaining existing permissions and governance policies. The Marketing Engagement MCP Server and Agentforce Sales and Self-Service Buying tools further extend Headless 360’s reach, enabling marketers and sales teams to manage campaigns and workflows through natural language across multiple interfaces.
