VA Awards Salesforce $1.6B Contract to Transform Veteran Care and Services
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs awarded Salesforce a $1.6 billion, three-year contract to modernize veteran care and services using Missionforce, aiming to reduce administrative burdens and improve service delivery.
The useful question is what changes for users, developers or buyers, and whether the announcement stays industry context or becomes something people can actually use.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded Salesforce a $1.6 billion, three-year Agentic Enterprise License Agreement (AELA) to implement Missionforce, a platform designed to modernize care and service delivery for veterans. The agreement builds on a decade-long partnership and aims to provide more timely, consistent, and connected experiences for America’s 17 million veterans. Salesforce will supply a unified foundation with agentic AI, integrated data, and collaboration tools to reduce administrative friction and allow staff to focus more on direct veteran support.
VA provides healthcare, benefits, and essential services to over 17 million veterans, their families, and caregivers, with more than 82 million direct-care appointments delivered in 2025 across 170 medical centers and 1,100 outpatient clinics. As demand for services grows, the VA sought a more connected approach to scale support while minimizing administrative workload. Missionforce will help VA teams deliver faster, more personalized benefits and care by linking workflows and systems department-wide, deploying AI agents authorized under FedRAMP High and HIPAA standards.
The AELA replaces an existing one-year contract with options for two additional one-year renewals, totaling up to $1.6 billion. The initiative aligns with VA’s Veterans First mandate, which prioritizes modernization, security, and AI to improve access, outcomes, and accountability in veteran-facing programs. Salesforce emphasized that the tools will enable VA employees to access the right information more quickly, reducing time spent on administrative tasks.
Kendall Collins, CEO of Missionforce & Government Cloud at Salesforce, stated that the goal is to reduce administrative burden and give employees more time to deliver care and benefits. Dave Rey, President of Global Public Sector at Salesforce, highlighted that Missionforce will provide seamlessly connected data and AI tools to support VA’s mission at scale.
