UK opens scholarships and startup fellowships for Pakistan’s next generation of leaders

The UK government announced that applications are now open for Chevening Scholarships, the Chevening Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship, and the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship. These programmes target emerging leaders, researchers, and entrepreneurs in Pakistan, providing fully-funded opportunities for master’s degrees, independent research at Oxford, or business development support in the UK. Each programme is designed to enhance skills, foster innovation, and build international networks for participants.

Chevening Scholarships cover one-year master’s degrees at UK universities for individuals demonstrating leadership potential and a clear vision for impact. The Chevening Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship supports mid-career academics and professionals conducting independent research at the University of Oxford. The Commonwealth Startup Fellowship assists high-potential entrepreneurs in refining business models, learning from UK experts, and preparing to scale their ventures.

The UK government stated that Pakistan has significant talent, and these programmes aim to help outstanding individuals develop the skills and connections needed to lead institutions, grow businesses, and address global challenges. Applicants are required to submit original responses based on their own experiences and ideas; AI-generated answers will result in disqualification. All programmes provide financial support covering flights, course fees, visas, and living stipends.

Over 2,000 Chevening alumni in Pakistan are active in public service, business, academia, media, and civil society, contributing to the UK-Pakistan partnership. Globally, Chevening alumni include more than 20 current or former heads of state or government.
