The SEAT & CUPRA plant in Martorell has commenced production of the CUPRA Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo, representing the first models of the Electric Urban Car Family. This initiative, led by SEAT & CUPRA on behalf of Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core, introduces four fully electric vehicles across three brands, all manufactured in Spain. The project aims to make electric mobility more accessible across Europe through shared platforms and reduced production costs.

The launch event was attended by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume, and other key executives. Markus Haupt, CEO of SEAT & CUPRA, emphasized the milestone as proof of the company’s transformation and ability to lead future mobility. The project, involving over €3 billion in investments, reflects a shift toward electrification and industrial leadership in Spain.

The Electric Urban Car Family leverages a shared platform to streamline production and deliver four distinct models tailored to different customer needs. Thomas Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, highlighted the €600 million in cost savings achieved through this approach. The initiative underscores the Volkswagen Group’s strategy to democratize electric mobility in Europe while strengthening its industrial base.

The Volkswagen ID. Polo, an all-electric successor to the long-standing model, offers up to 454 km WLTP range and advanced features like Connected Travel Assist. The CUPRA Raval, built on the MEB+ platform, introduces a new urban EV segment with a range of around 450 km and innovative design elements. Both models will launch in 2026, reinforcing SEAT & CUPRA’s role in Spain’s automotive electrification and the Volkswagen Group’s broader mobility strategy.
