Volkswagen has introduced the ID. Polo GTI, the first all-electric model to carry the GTI badge, marking the 50th anniversary of the iconic performance line. The vehicle delivers 166 kW (226 PS) and 290 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds while maintaining everyday usability. The front-wheel-drive system includes an electronically controlled front differential lock as standard, ensuring precise power delivery. The ID. Polo GTI retains the GTI’s design heritage with a clear, timeless aesthetic, including a red stripe across the front, 19-inch alloy wheels, and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. The rear features a distinctive roof spoiler and illuminated red elements, reinforcing its GTI identity without relying on badging. The interior emphasizes red and black contrasts, with premium sport seats, a GTI-branded steering wheel, and a fabric upholstery inspired by historic GTI tartan checks.
The vehicle’s 52 kWh NMC battery supports DC charging up to 105 kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in approximately 24 minutes. The compact drive modules increase interior space by 19 mm compared to the combustion-engine Polo GTI, with a 25% larger luggage compartment (441 litres) and a maximum load capacity of 1,240 litres when seats are folded. Additional features include a detachable ball coupling for bike carriers and a braked towing capacity of up to 1.2 tonnes.

Polo GTI also offers advanced driver-assistance systems, with Connected Travel Assist available as an option, featuring traffic light recognition and one-pedal driving.
