Dive Beneath the Surface in Grounded 2's Biggest Update Yet: Into the Abyss
Grounded 2’s Into the Abyss update introduces a major underwater expansion for Brookhollow Park, adding new exploration, progression systems, and base-building mechanics. PlayStation 5 players can now join the Early Access period.
The Into the Abyss update for Grounded 2 marks the largest content addition to date, transforming Skunk Pond into an expansive underwater environment. Players will navigate submerged caverns, uncover hidden points of interest, and explore newly expanded areas such as the Bridge, Gnarly Bark, and Pergola. The update introduces underwater exploration as a core gameplay feature, rewarding curiosity with new resources, collectibles, and surprises throughout the pond’s depths.
To facilitate underwater exploration, players must craft specialized diving gear that extends their time beneath the surface and grants access to previously unreachable locations. The update introduces new progression systems tied to underwater navigation, combat, and base-building, requiring adaptation to environmental hazards and new threats. The amphibious Toe Biter Buggy serves as a new traversal tool, enabling movement across both land and water.
Underwater base-building allows players to construct submerged outposts, expanding their living spaces into previously uninhabitable areas. The update also introduces new creatures, including the amphibious Toe Biter, mechanical Catch ‘N Kill robots, and returning threats like the Diving Bell Spider. These encounters present fresh challenges, reinforcing the survival mechanics central to Grounded 2’s gameplay.
Grounded 2 is available in Early Access on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5, with access included for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Xbox Play Anywhere allows cross-play between Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC at no additional cost.
