Apple debuts iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, A20 Pro chip, and up to 45 hours of video playback.
Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, highlighting a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture for enhanced creative control and new Pro controls for manual adjustments like shutter speed and white balance. The devices also include a redesigned Dynamic Island capable of displaying three Live Activities simultaneously while maintaining Face ID functionality. Pre-orders begin September 12, with availability starting September 18 across four finishes: black, silver, glacier, and burgundy.
The new A20 Pro chip, built on a 2-nanometer process, delivers up to 40% faster GPU performance and double the AI processing power of its predecessor, alongside a next-generation vapor chamber for sustained performance gains. The chip also features a 6-core CPU with integrated Neural Accelerators and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread via the N1 wireless networking chip. Apple claims the vapor chamber enables up to a 40% performance improvement over the previous generation.
Battery life sees significant improvements, with the iPhone 18 Pro offering up to 36 hours of video playback and the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivering up to 45 hours. The larger model can charge up to 50% in five minutes via wired charging, providing around seven hours of video playback, while both models support wireless charging up to 50% in 30 minutes.
The iPhone 18 Pro series introduces Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence, enabling more conversational interactions and onscreen awareness to take actions based on displayed content. Siri mode in the Camera app allows users to get information and take actions on what’s in front of them, while the devices also support image authenticity features like Apple Reference Image and SynthID for verifying photo origins.
