Apple announces the next generation of HomePod mini
Apple unveiled the next-generation HomePod mini, introducing Siri AI, new colors, and enhanced audio, including four-speaker surround sound with Apple TV 4K.
Apple announced HomePod mini 2, featuring Siri AI, which offers improved conversational abilities and broader app integration via a future software update. The assistant now understands personal context and can tap into apps like Messages to complete tasks such as finding songs or setting reminders. Users without an Apple Intelligence-enabled device still benefit from Siri AI’s enhanced world knowledge and music discovery features.
HomePod mini 2 delivers room-filling 360-degree sound, whether used alone, in stereo pairs, or as part of a multiroom setup. When paired with the new Apple TV 4K, it creates a four-speaker surround sound experience with automatic room calibration. The speaker also features Sound Glow, which visually responds to music with album-artwork-matched lighting and customizable soundscapes.
The new model introduces five color options—pink, green, blue, white, and midnight—and can be pre-ordered today, with availability starting October 30. It supports voice-controlled smart home automations, including locking doors, adjusting thermostats, and managing lights or blinds, all through the Home app.
HomePod mini 2 prioritizes privacy with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, ensuring Siri requests are not stored or accessible to Apple. It also includes environmental features like 100 percent recycled materials in magnets and circuit boards, aligning with Apple’s carbon neutrality goals by 2030.
